Spring Summer 2017 Menswear
Two Deaths, Three Births

"My movie is born first in my head, dies on paper; is resuscitated by the living persons and real objects I use, which are killed on film but, placed in a certain order and projected onto a screen, come to life again like flowers in water." — Robert Bresson
Two Deaths, Three Births is Kiko Kostadinov's debut collection at LC:M, sponsored by NEWGEN. For his first collection since graduating from Central Saint Martins (MA) in February 2016, Kostadinov continues to subvert ideals of utilitarian dress. Focusing on the functional attributes of uniforms such as cleaners' shirts, doctors' lab coats and oil workers' boiler suits, Kostandinov also considers associated accessories such as waist tool bags and protective hats, reinterpreting them for modern usage.
With a preoccupation for workwear, Kostadinov juxtaposes these details, cleverly reformulating them for his SS17 collection. Utilising materials such as Tyvek® deeply coated in gloss black paint and Ventile® in shades of stone, navy, charcoal and white, Kostandinov's silhouettes continue to be informed by applying innovative pattern cutting to all garments maintaining his 'antidecorative' approach to design.
Kiko Kostadinov is a Menswear designer based in London. His work focuses on subversive pattern cutting and functional garment construction. Kostadinov studied BA and MA Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins, graduating in 2016. He presents his SS17 collection as one of the few to receive NEWGEN sponsorship shortly after graduating. His Autumn Winter 2016 (00012016) and Spring Summer 2017 (00022017) collections will be available exclusively at Dover Street Market globally.
