Spring Summer 2023 Womenswear
Designed by Laura and Deanna Fanning, the Kiko Kostadinov Womenswear Spring Summer 2023 collection embodies romantic expressions of contemporary womanhood through a historicist lens. By considering how body and fabric occupy space, intimate and fantastic narratives emerge through the obsessive study of materiality and the manipulation of colour and light, gravity and proportion. Tracing back to the Lady and the Unicorn, Flemish tapestries that reside within the Musée de Cluny in Paris, a whimsical heroism pervades.
Peeling, floating, spliced and superimposed: shivering lace, silk georgettes, stocking nylon and naive raso jacquards are draped and doubled, falling off shoulders and grazing hips in silhouettes that celebrate movement. Chenille and lurex twist and tie in halter knits and bibs worn with pastel godet skirts, spiral minis and panelled flares. Transparent organzas and chiffons shift in gelato-hued dresses to create harlequin moments.
