The Kiko Kostadinov Spring Summer 2025 collection is conceived as an abstraction of human fragility and innovation. A reflection on time and a constant drive towards medical self-improvement.
On one hand is the thrill of the new. Of hacking the system. Winning the unwinnable through quantification of the self. Data. Supplements. Regimes. Life hacks. Longevity. Life expectancy as status symbol.
On the other is an acknowledgement of the fragility of human bodies. The beauty inherent in vulnerability. The liberation and optimism that might come from acceptance. A move from the fetishisation of quantity to the appreciation of quality. If lifespan is a measure of time, then healthspan is a measure of how enjoyable that time might be. Not solely living longer, but living better.
At the core of the collection is a clinical yet intimate aura, informed by figures who make up the heart of the medical landscape including pharmacy clerks, doctors, surgeons, facility caretakers and patients.
Adaptive clothing is inspired by post-surgery recovery, featuring diagonal snap dart fastenings and adjusters. A clean-lined aesthetic informed by the precision of lab coats and scrubs is seen throughout. Powder touch nylon. Padded neoprene. Custom woven tape finishes. Bright teal and acidic chartreuse. Boots and slippers in quilted nylon. Accessories with coloured calf leather and stainless steel finishes.
Prints inspired by liposomes feature across shirts, vests and trousers. The graphics depict a new frontier in drug delivery, whereby medicine can be delivered into the body by microscopic spheres composed of water-repellent phospholipids. Blown up to new scales they become futuristic abstractions that evoke medical progress or even the cosmos.
